Paper money expert Glen Jorde, who conducted a beginning paper money grading course at the 2017 Central States convention, ill notch up the effort in connection with next year's convention, when he will teach an Advanced Paper Money Grading course.
Jorde, a part president of the Professional Currency Dealers Association, had taught grading courses at the FUN and ANA conventions as well as the ANA's Summer Seminar.
Students will explore the often subtle difference between genuine, counterfeit and altered notes and how to grade them. Collectors will improve their grading skills and learn to detect paper money that has been repaired, pressed, flattened or laundered.
Jorde said, "Is is a hands-on course in which I supply U.S. and World paper money to work with. All ages and skill levels are welcome. The goal of the class is to be able to assign a grade to the note and to identify any problems."
He noted, "Everyone learns a lot, as well as the instructor."
The class will be conducted from noon to 6 PM Monday, April 20, and 9 AM to 5 PM Tuesday,, April 21, and the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, in advance of the Central States convention, which begins April 22.
The class is limited to 15 students, with registration offered on a first-come basis. The registration fee is $150.
